Salt is a resource category that includes Flake Salt, Iodine, Kala Namak, Pink Salt, Rock Salt and Sea Salt; is used in a large number of meals; is an ingredient in Preserving Salt (which is used in Preserving Bag to preserve food goods) and is required to make Cobalt Ingots in a Forge.

The most common way to find small amounts of Salt in the early game is to dig sandy beaches with a Shovel. Your success will depend on random luck, but may pay off with 1-4 Salt every now and again.

Desert climates can spawn salt nodes best harvested with a Metal Pick; for locations check the page for the specific type of Salt or the commingled list near the bottom of this page.
