Bark is a resource under the generic Thatch type of resources. All the non-generic resources of this type are:
The various resources within this type are interchangeable for crafting common items. For crafting higher-quality blueprints, you will need to include two or more of these named resources, but not the generic resource.
Since the generic resources are all you can harvest at freeports and is all you will receive when you demolish structures, you will need to explore the game world in order to find many versions of resources of each type to build high-quality items and structures once you have looted some good blueprints.
The most effective way to gather thatch from trees is to have your character use a giraffe or a Metal Pick—but anything will do in a pinch, including punching. Pure nodes of thatch usually appear as plants smaller than trees or look like forest clutter lying on the ground and you will be best off harvesting these with a bear, with a Metal Sickle or by hand if you must. A thick cluster of pure thatch nodes can yield tremendous amounts of thatch in a short time, much faster than from trees.
- Loose branches and fronds on the ground. This is harvested by hand or by Metal Sickle
- A palm-like tree which has grayish plant matter hanging down from it. This is harvested using a Metal Pick or Metal Hatchet.
