Other Discoveries[]

I totally agree with DevlinOnline. I use this site a lot and am particularly missing the header for "Other Discoveries" (than islands). Although I agree with the other suggestions made, I thought of adding a header "Other Discoveries" myself, so at least people can add that information already before the rework of the current layout for region pages. But since I only started editing/making additions yesterday, I am afraid of doing anything the wrong way, or that it is not my place to do so. I am curious what you think about it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by T1ntoretto (talkcontribs) at 10:42, 3 February 2019‎. Please sign your posts with ~~~~

You're as welcome as anyone to improve on articles as you see fit! You could always just give it a go and see how it turns out. If you feel like you're messing up anything, there's nothing stopping you from reverting your edits.
There is also your User Page which you can reach from your profile if you want to make a sandbox-like environment to test some ideas before releasing them into the wild. You can copy snippets or even a whole region page as long as you leave out the Category tag that you'll find at the bottom of each region.
Region_O15 and Region_N11 are running two slightly different drafts of a Discoveries sections, although I'm sure we can improve on them quite a bit.

Suggestion for Region Page Layout[]

I feel like the current layout of the region pages should be redone so that the information people would most likely need from the page is listed clearly. For example, not all islands in each region have the same resources and creatures on them, and more often I'm seeing people ask which island has a particular thing because of that. It would save visitors extra clicks if each island in the region had this listed on the region page as opposed to people having to go to each island's individual page to find out. If its a matter of too much work filling in the same information over and over again, a template could be easily made (I was was already working on one before the layout swapped) so that people editing the page could just type "X" next to the name of the animal on that island, and the info table would be transcluded. Also, not all discoveries in a region are islands but the current layout seems to treat them as such. Since more discoveries mean more levels after the soft cap, I'd say this will become much needed info in the future. I was working on an idea (seen in the history of "K8" here: Special:PermanentLink/11032) where discoveries are listed in a table at the top of the page in order of their appearance on the in-game menu (leaving unknown ones as "???" so it ideally incentivizes people to fill it in), as well as where they can be found. I'd be happy to put that wildlife template together again and help however I can if this suggestion works. - DevlinOnline (talk) 05:28, 6 January 2019 (UTC).

I agree with the suggested changes DevlinOnline, I think that layout works well and is more useful. At the moment it's vague, and it almost seems pointless having the Islands separated. I know that that information is what I want so as to be able to benefit from exploring the area. --Mokonzi81 (talk) 11:32, 9 May 2019 (UTC)

Discovered Resources template.[]

Can we get a template for (or include in a current one) the Discovered Resources portion of region articles? i.e as seen on Region_A1.
Copy/Pasting the table from previous articles surely will lead to some wrong entries here and there.
Maybe even include icons for the region specific resources in the second column?

Redacted. I found it easy enough to work with things how they are right now. ItemLink solved the icon part. There are "only" 225 regions, so this case will soon be redundant. Vemsvims (talk) 22:52, 13 January 2019 (UTC)
